Construction and Material Integrity

The main housing is cast from high grade Ductile Iron GGG40, also known as EN-GJS-400-15. This material is selected for its superior tensile strength and impact resistance compared to standard grey iron. Each unit is coated with a thick layer of Fusion Bonded Epoxy to a minimum of 250 microns. This non-toxic coating provides a dielectric barrier against corrosion and ensures the strainer is suitable for both potable water and raw water applications.

Filtration Dynamics and Maintenance

The heart of the unit is a heavy duty Stainless Steel SS304 basket. The basket is designed with a high open area ratio relative to the pipe diameter, which ensures that the fluid moves through the screen with minimal resistance.

• Pressure Management: As seen on the body casting, the unit is rated for PN16 pressure environments. To facilitate safe maintenance, a manual vent ball valve is installed on the top of the cover. This allows technicians to bleed off internal pressure before opening the bolted bonnet.
• Debris Removal: A drain port is located at the base of the chamber to allow for the removal of fine sediment and sludge without a full teardown. The top entry design means the basket can be lifted straight out of the body, cleaned, and replaced in minutes.
